Arsenio Hall's second run as a late-night talk show host is over. CBS Television Distribution said Thursday "The Arsenio Hall Show" would not return for a second season.
Hall made his return to late night last September after "The Arsenio Hall Show" version 1.0 ended in 1994. But after a solid start tapered off into lukewarm ratings, CBS decided to pull the plug. (Via CNN)
Deadline has the distributor's statement, which reads in part, "While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue. Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we'd like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show."
The move comes as somewhat of a surprise considering Jay Leno's February appearance on Hall's show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hall released a statement of his own, saying, "When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge – I'm gratified for the year we've had and proud of the show we created."
Turns out this just hasn't been the best week for the comedian.
Not only did he lose his show, but he lost his less-than-legitimate bid to buy the L.A. Clippers.
Hall: "Non-racist Clippers fans: 'We are one' ... billion dollars away from me owning the Clippers."
