For a simple $20 registration fee, and proof of military service, either their own or their fiance's, brides can get a free designer gown. The bride or her fiance must be in the military, having either been deployed within the last five years or waiting deployment in places like Afghanistan, Korea or Japan, WJLA reported.
The first year, according to the group's website, they gave away 50 gowns to military brides.
In 2013, with the help of more than 60 bridal shops, that number climbed to 12,000 gowns.
According to nwitimes.com, Operation Wedding Gown happens twice a year.
The latest round of gown give-a-ways have started with appointments happening across the country since June.
