KELLER, Texas —

Ethan Couch’s attorneys told the judge he was not to blame, his parents were.

Couch killed four pedestrians when he plowed his car into them in June while driving drunk.

Killed were 41- year old youth pastor Brian Jennings, 24-year old Breanna Mitchell, Hollie Boyles who was 52, and her 21-year old daughter Shelby Boyles.

Couch hadn’t just knocked back a couple before the wreck. The 16-year old had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.

But he escaped prison when his attorney’s argued he was too entitled as a child to be guilty.

CBS Local reports attorneys say since the teenagers parents are wealthy, they spoiled him and gave him anything he wanted.

They pointed out the Burleson, Texas boy began drinking at an early age and was driving at 13.

The defense team claimed jail wasn’t what Couch needed, it was help he requires.

State District Judge Jean Boyd agreed, sentencing the boy to ten years’ probation and ordering him to undergo treatment.

His attorneys have asked he be sent to a facility in California where the rehab tab would settle in at a whopping $450,000 a year.

Couch's father has agreed to pay the bill.

WFAA reports a psychologist who testified came up with a name for Couch’s “condition.” He called it “affluenza."

The families of the victims were present in the court and began to cry when the sentence was read.
