Green Country volunteer firefighter died from medical emergency

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — A Green Country volunteer firefighter died Wednesday from a medical emergency.

The Green Country Volunteer Fire Department, located in Sand Springs, said on Wednesday night they responded to the home of one of their firefighters, Lynn Hopper. The department said Hopper had a medical emergency and was taken to Hillcrest Hospital where he died around 11:40 p.m.

Hopper was their water tender operator and was active in the department.

“He always had a plan when he got on scene for providing water to a single truck pumping a fire or for water at a wildland event,” said the department on a GoFundMe page. “Lynn was a big old teddy bear, never rattled and would do anything for anyone.”

A GoFundMe is set up to help Hopper’s fiancé pay for funeral and memorial expenses.
