TULSA, Okla. — For the past few days, Greenwood has been the site of the Black Wall Street Rally, aiming to benefit and bolster Greenwood.
The rally brought biker groups, vendors and visitors from all over the country, including from Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Coordinators of the rally said it went very well.
“This is economic development, which is what black wall street was about,” said Carmella Hill, a coordinator.
As Greenwood was lined with black-owned vendors, Hill said it reminded her of the 1920s.
“So that’s it’s the same resurgences from when it was back in the 1920s, where you walked up and down Greenwood, where you saw all those black business.”
But the rally was more than a simple festival.
“Aside from all the motorcycles and show - this is a cultural event - so make sure you come out even when this is over and support,” Hill said.
