CMG Back to School Project

Back to school carries a different meaning this year as so many school districts will be utilizing distance learning. The impact of this decision goes far beyond parents with school-age children and those in education. Join Dan Potter and Rick Couri from the KRMG Morning News for a new series called The KRMG Back to School Project sponsored by Academy Sports + Outdoors. Every week, Dan and Rick will take an in-depth look at one angle of the distance learning model as we lead up to the school year in an effort to help arm Green Country with critical information to help during this time of transition.

These in-depth hours will be listener-driven and focused on the questions you want to know. The KRMG team will interview experts focused on the mindset of children, human resource officers adapting to parents who are now teaching during the traditional workday and education experts that will help parents schedule their days at home.

The KRMG Back to School Project in-depth hours will be:

8am-9am Tuesday, August 11th

Focus: Teachers and Other School Staff Members

These professionals will join Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Rob Miller to discuss the hurdles they are facing and what they are doing now to help prepare students and their families for the upcoming year.

8am-9am Thursday, August 13th

Focus: Parents and Students

Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist will join local parents and students for an interactive discussion about what expectations from each group and what all sides need to be successful in a distance-learning format.

8am-9am Thursday, August 20th

Focus: Challenges in Extracurricular Activities

How does distance learning change the extracurricular activities schools can offer their students? Join us as community leaders discuss how they are trying to keep students safe while continuing to offer extracurricular options.

8am-9am Thursday, August 27th

Focus: Health Relationships

Distance learning puts additional stress on all relations – parents and children, adults and their employers, partners with each other. Join us as we bring in psychologists and counselors to discuss tips to help people navigate changes that will put additional stressors on their relationships.

All of the in-depth hours will be saved online in a podcast format for future review. Check back here each week to access the in-depth hour. To listen to all the in-depth hours so far, click HERE.
