Tulsa police arrest man accused of shooting, killing carjacking suspect

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police have arrested a man following a deadly shooting outside of a QuikTrip.

Officers responded to the QuikTrip near Highway 412 and North Gilcrease Museum Road Sunday morning before 4:30 a.m. Investigators say the victim, 25-year-old Desmond Cousino, tried to carjack another man.

That man, now identified as Anthony Marquone Allen, fought back.

Investigators say Allen and Cousino wrestled for Cousino’s gun. Allen took the gun and shot Cousino as he ran off.

Because Allen shot Cousino as he ran away, Allen has been charged with first-degree manslaughter according to Tulsa Police Lt. Brandon Watkins.

“During the course of the investigation, we saw that while Mr. Allen was defending himself from Mr. Cousino. Cousino was actually trying to flea and had made it quite a ways, and Allen shot him as he was fleeing and chased down and shot a couple more times,” Watkins said.

Watkins continued, “It’s manslaughter partly because Cousino was in the process of carjacking the victim, Mr. Allen.”

Allen has been arrested and is in custody.

The affidavit in the case also reveals that Allen and Cousino weren’t strangers. It says Allen was holding an ‘AR-Pistol’ for Cousino - because Cousino was a convicted felon.

They met at the Quicktrip that night to return the gun to Cousino. The affidavit says during the exchange is when Cousino attempted to carjack Allen.

They fought over the gun and it changed hands multiple times before Allen got full control. Cousino tried to run and Allen shot him once. The affidavit said Cousino ran even further, and Allen chased him down and shot him multiple more times.

Watkins explained this is an ongoing investigation that will continue up until the case is brought to court.
