FRISCO, Texas — Brynn Moore, a cancer patient who signed a two-day contract with FC Dallas in 2019 and served as a team captain for the Major League Soccer team, died Friday after a three-year battle with cancer. She was 13.
Moore died from Ewing sarcoma, the team said. According to the Mayo Clinic, Ewing sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in bones or in the soft tissue around the bones.
Moore was 10 in 2019 when the professional soccer team signed her to a two-day contract and appointed her as team captain in the team’s 3-1 victory against FC Cincinnati, WFAA-TV reported.

“From that day forward, she left a remarkable impact on everyone in our organization and on those who met her,” the team wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “Everyone at FC Dallas fell in love with her energy and perseverance.”
“You’re making one little soccer-crazy girl very happy today,” Brenda Smith, Moore’s grandmother, said in 2019. “Seeing her come here, the way that she was escorted in ... this is so wonderful.”
We are so proud to sign 10-year-old Brynn Moore to a two-day contract. She is a tough negotiator! Brynn will join our @FCDallas players during pregame on the field tomorrow.
