The Clearwater Police Department said that Cameron Taylor and Cheyenne Gray were both arrested Wednesday evening in connection with Gray’s two-year-old daughter who had serious injuries including multiple broken bones.

According to WTVT, Taylor told investigators that the toddler fell off the bed and then fell off of a toilet and hit her head on the tub. He also told them that when the girl was sitting on the floor, she fell face-first onto the floor.

Gray didn’t take her daughter for treatment out of fear it would make her look like an abusive mother, according to WTVT. CPD said Gray waited a week to get help for her daughter.

According to court records obtained by WFTS, the girl was taken to the hospital at 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Injuries included severe bruises to her face, forehead, neck and chest. She also had a “linear fracture to her head, clavicle and leg.” The toddler’s head injury was so severe that she had an internal brain bleed, according to WFTS.

CPD said Taylor has been booked on recommended charges of aggravated child abuse and child neglect. Gray has been booked on the recommended charge of child neglect.

WFTS said the girl remains in the hospital in critical condition.
