According to KUTV, a judge sentenced Clint Corydon Nokes, 22, of Clinton, to a prison term of 15 years to life on Sept. 30, about three months after he agreed to a plea deal in the December 2017 death of his infant son. Nokes originally had been charged with first-degree criminal homicide – aggravated murder, and second-degree intentional infliction of serious physical injury, Gephardt Daily reported.

Clearfield police found Nokes' baby unresponsive Dec. 1, 2017, after Nokes said the child had stopped breathing, according to the news outlets. The child died the next day from his injuries, which included a skull fracture, a brain bleed, bruises on his head, detached retinas and a damaged spine, officials said.

Nokes later told investigators that he had “exploded” because the child wouldn’t stop crying, according to Gephardt Daily. He said he had recently thrown the infant onto a couch and dropped him head-first into a sink, the news outlet reported.
