Tulsa Zoo announces death of mother snow leopard

TULSA, Okla. — A mother snow leopard passed away this week due to renal disease, the Tulsa Zoo announced on Saturday.

“Sherab would gaze out over her rowdy children, always looking quite exotic and aloof and in the next minute she was right in the middle of them running and leaping about,” Tulsa Zoo said on their Facebook page.  “Her speckled nose was purrfect and when she chuffed she used her whole body. She will be missed.”

The Tulsa Zoo is home to four snow leopards — cubs Kavi, Amir and Zahra, and mother Sherab, according to the zoo’s website.

The father of the cubs, Rajan, recently moved to North East Wisconsin Zoo in conjunction with the snow leopard Species Survival Plan, which manages species.
